Can you help us debate "Technology has changed our lives for the worse"?

Hey all!

We are currently about to debate on the topic from the affirmative side (i.e we have to argue technology has changed our lives for the worse)

Can anybody help us prove this? It is a very important debate.

Thank you!!

PS: The debate is on monday...be quick!!

Without doing your job for you, I would say the quick answer is to research what the Amish religious group says about technology and the %26quot;Luddite%26quot; (anti-tech) philosophy.

Once you've done that, figure out what the POSITIVE aspects of tech are...and find the NEGATIVE part of the POSITIVE. Nothing is 100% %26quot;good%26quot;...every good action has a negative consequence associated.

Example: Exercising is %26quot;good for you%26quot;, right? Well, sort of...You can't overdo it or you risk heart attack. Also, in order to exercise you have to %26quot;give up%26quot; doing something else. So while you're exercising, you give up family time (unless it's a family bike ride). Or you skip that household repair project.

Technology makes it possible to be more %26quot;connected%26quot; to everyone than ever before but while you're in front of the screen, you can't be actually PHYSICALLY talking to them. Also even though the Internet is 24/7, humans have limitations of sleep needed. You can't spend all night studying on the Internet to get smarter because then you sleep through and bomb the test the next morning. These are obviously quick not-fleshed-out answers, but this should give you a start to how to think about your arguments.

Good luck!

Some points

Technology is depersonalizing. people spend more time intereatic with machine and less time interacting with real people.

People are physically worse off from lack of excercise

People have less free time. It's difficult no to go on vacation without a cell phone and you wind up working anyway. you are available 24/7

Technology permits the government to amass mountains of data about you. Even your DNA is on file.

Technology pollutes the planet. Cell phone radiation may damage the brain, etc.
